Done Deal: Chelsea Completes Second Summer Transfer.

The summer transfer window is set to see much less spent in terms of transfer fees, but some clubs are still preparing for the next campaign.

Chelsea are one of those clubs, as Frank Lampard looks to bolster his squad for his second season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have already agreed a €40m (£33.6m) deal, potentially rising to €44m, with Ajax for the Morocco midfielder Hakim Ziyech. The 26-year-old will complete his transfer on 1 July.

Now Chelsea have completed a permanent move from Chelsea to Atalanta, according to reports. The Croatian has spent the past two seasons on loan at the Serie A side, making 74 appearances across all competitions.

According to Sports Journalist Nicolo Schira, Chelsea have sold midfielder Mario Pasalic to Atalanta for the agreed 15 million euros (£13.4m) option to buy fee.

The option was inserted by the two clubs when agreeing the loan move to the Serie A.

The Blues' 25-year-old Croatian international has been loaned out no fewer than five times, but his Atalanta spell has been a success

Chelsea have history when it comes to loaning out players en masse to various European clubs.

Mario Pasalic is no stranger to that process, having joined Chelsea in 2014 and been loaned out no fewer than five times.

The midfielder’s travels have taken him to Spain, France, Italy and Russia with the likes of Elche, Monaco, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow and, currently, Atalanta.

The 25-year-old joined Atalanta on an initial season-long loan in 2018 and helped Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to qualify for this season’s Champions League before agreeing to move to Lombardy for a second season last summer having signed a new contract at Chelsea until 2022.

The Croatian admitted long ago that he wants to remain in Italy.

Speaking after Atalanta's 4-1 triumph in the first-leg of their last-16 Champions League tie against Valencia. Pašalić said to Dalmatinski Portal;

"I’ve been on loan for five or six years. I would love to finally settle my status," I’m great at Atalanta, this is the first club where I stayed for the second year in a row. We will see in the summer what will be. They have the right of redemption.

"It’s their decision [to exercise the €15 million clause or not], so far I don’t know more than that. Every time I say it’s great for me here, I’d love to stay."

The transfer fee will be a minor boost to Chelsea's summer warchest, with Frank Lampard expected to overhaul his squad in the upcoming window.
