Nigeria to lose 24 local governments to creation of a new country by United Nations

The United Nations have completed preparation to create a new country from Nigeria and Cameroon by July 10, 2020. The new country is to be known as United Nations Organisation State of Cameroon. As a result of the creation of the new state, Nigeria is set to lose twenty four local government councils to the creation of the new country. 


The new country will have a total landmass of 28,214 square kilometers with 20 million people as reported by a national daily. 


The creation of the new country was made known in May 26, 2020 via a letter released by professor Martins Chia Ateh who is the United Nations workshop coordinator in Nigeria and Cameroon. 


Moreover, about the creation of the new country, Nigeria is set to lose 24 local government councils in Northeast. See the breakdown below:

Five local governments from Borno state, twelve local governments from Adamawa state and seven local governments in Taraba state. 


The territory to be used for the new country have been under the watch of the United nations since 2003 when former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo and Paul Biya of Cameroon signed the United nations treaty.
